Snow Fest 2015

Because of my love for the Mid Pen Trailblazers, I decided to try out Snowfest for the first time. Snowfest to a runner means a 3.5 mile trail run in the snow at R. B. Winter State Park.  But in addition to the race, there are also really cool activities and demonstrations, like snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobile rides, ice skating, horse drawn wagon rides, ice cutting, ice fishing, and other winter fun!  So we all went as a family!  The kiddos totally ignored all that cool stuff in favor of throwing snowballs all day, but they had a great time!

The race, honestly, was not my favorite.  The snow, oh, the snow!!!  The trail was beautiful!  But it took me 41:29 (58th of 155 runners, 11:51 pace) to cross that finish line and I had had my fill of slipping and sliding in several inches of snow.  So that being said, it still had all the things I love most about trail races- nature, delicious food, and the best people around!

Having fun despite the snow!
